Ewan Mcgregor before Starwars - movie_goer
"Brassed off! Is a quaint and quirky film that finds unity through music and friendship during hardship."
A movie that could have easily been forgotten and swept under the table. However, its mesmerizing score by Trevor Jones that keys into the emotion of the movie while acknowledging the roots of the film keep the movie alive!
Last, and by certainly no means least, is the performance of the late, great Pete Postlethwaite as Danny. I could try to put many adjectives to his performance - magnetic, powerful and driven being amongst them.A Pete Postlethwaite gem - Sooze
We loved this one - watched it over again. It encapsulated the frustrations of miners during a difficult time and demonstrated how the power of music can overcome many things. A powerful performance by Pete Postlethwaite. Music incredible, activing and settings superb. Fully recommend this one.Good, but not a comedy - MovieBug
The human tragedy that unfolds here has its (black) comedic moments, for sure, but the theme generally and what unfolds for the main characters is none too funny. There is some wry humour in the dialog, and In the end the story is uplifting, but not 'hilarious' by any means.
Well acted, Pete Postlethwaite, Stephen Tompkinson and Philip Jackson in particular.
