Breakin'
Push it to pop it! Rock it to lock it! Break it to make it!
Three aspiring dancers take their best shot - and pop and lock - at the big time in the invigorating breakdancing phenomenon that inspired a sequel (Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo) and features a cameo by Ice-T!
Lucinda Dickey, Adolpho "Shabba-Doo" Quinones and Michael "Boogaloo Shrimp" Chambers pump up the jam as a struggling trio of dancers - jazz for her, break for them - taking on a rival street gang in a professional dance competition. Packed with fast-paced moves and furious jives and featuring smash hits "Breakin'... There's No Stoppin' Us" and "Freakshow on the Dance Floor," this heart-in-your-throat dance movie is a non-stop floor show of "excitingly staged... solid fun." - San Francisco Chronicle

An '80s Milestone - eoguy
Growing up with Hip Hop from the beginning this movie was a breakthrough. The main focus obviously was on the breakdancing and not necessarily the acting. 15 years later re-visiting this film, I had to gasp as I saw how Hollywood once again infiltrated and manipulated another culturaly fresh idea from the street. Now I try to remember, "Where were the white female professional dancers attempting breakdancing in the urban neighborhoods?" What about the young flamboyant, floresent clothed black men? Exactly, I don't remember either. For something so ground breaking, Hollywood certainly did their best breaking it down out of style. e.g. "Electric Boogaloo" Breakdancing died a horrible death after that.Classic Classic Classic - Freddy's#1Fan
This film brings back many memories for me. Breakin was a huge 80's wave. Fade back to kids on the corner's bustin a move on large pieces of cardboard, rumours that Alfonzo from Silver Spoons has broken his neck doing a head spin, only to resurface in the early 90's on Fresh Prince. There is one scene in this movie where Kelly goes to the beach to watch people dance and in the crowd surrounding the dance section is Jean Claude Van Damn, now talk about getting your start in hollywood doing bit parts. There is also some great fresh music from ICE T who blew into a rap/tv/movie mogul. From his albums to New Jack City to his stint on Law & Order SVU Right now. Some of the best things about these older movies are the people you see in the back grounds. Now the sequel to this film unfortunately did not flow as well. But hey if movies can go 6 and 7 sequels in why can't this film try two.
