Bringing Down The House
"One of the funniest movies ever" - Larry King
The hilarious Steve Martin (Father of the Bride) and Academy Award nominee Queen Latifah (Chicago) star with Eugene Levy (American Pie) in the laugh-out-loud hit comedy Bringing Down the House. Peter Sanderson (Martin), a divorced, straight-laced, uptight, workaholic attorney, meets a brainy, bombshell lawyer in an online chat room and they make a date. Expecting his soul mate, he opens the door and finds himself face-to-face with Charlene (Latifah) - a wild and crazy soul sister who's just escaped from prison and wants Peter to clear her name. But Peter wants absolutely nothing to do with her, and that prompts Charlene to turn Peter's perfectly ordered life totally upside down. Hysterical complications abound and Peter soon finds out he may need Charlene just as much as she needs him. It's a houseful of fun your family will enjoy again and again.

This flick, on the surface, is about a middle-aged lawyer who is trying to land a big client at work while searching for love on the Internet at home. When he sets up a date to meet "lawyer-girl" he finds out she is actually a young black woman, Charlene, who is hoping to get her named cleared for a crime she claims she didn't commit. Peter is stuck between trying to land the very conservative client and helping Charlene.
But there's a lot of other little things happening in the background of this film, which made it not just a funny slap-stick film, but also allowed for some character development. Everyone in Peter's life is affected in some way by Charlene and her influence on Peter. Peter's ex-wife, his children, his client and his co-worker are caught up in a rapid wave of change.
the main characters bring in the laughs while the minor character provide a little development and serious moments on the side. While the movie is slow to get going, once it gets up to speed, it's a great ride.Latifah is great, but suffers with poor co stars - Radio_Jane
I love Queen Latifah, and she was really good in this, but because of the other stars her performance suffers horribly. Steve Martin proves once again how bad an actor he is and I am sure that Eugene Levy may be the most unfunny and annoying man on earth. Plus there are alot of cliched and sterotypical jokes. Not worth the time at all.Bringing Down The House - Jcuban
You got to be bored to the point of considering suicide if you want to enjoy watching it. A total waste of talents.
What starts as "it may be good" ends as "who came up with such a bad idea?"
Nothing is believable in this movie. Queen Latifah is probably the only thing worth of wasting time in front of the TV; but i have seen worse, like "Boat Trip"
