Brubaker
One man against a cruel system.
Robert Redford stars in this potent drama based on the real life story of Tom Murton, the prison superintendent who rocked Arkansas politics when he exposed scandalous abuses and murders in a state prison. Posing as a new prisoner, Brubaker (Redford) discovers vast corruption in a state penitentiary before revealing himself to be the new warden.
His personal crusade to bring reform puts him in grave danger, especially when he insists on exposing a series of secret murders that took place years earlier. Powerful and disturbing, Brubaker won acclaim for its gritty realism and Oscar-nominated screenplay.

The cast is well suited and Redford plays a good character. Yaphet Kotto also has a lead role as the head trusty Dickie Coombs who doesn’t quite trust the new wardens motives and Jane Alexander plays the role of the government liaison who tries to keep Brubaker from causing to much trouble.
The disc is good, the film looks good and it’s a damn good story made even better by the presence of Robert Redford. If you are a fan of prison films (not those kind!) And you enjoyed THE LAST CASTLE, then you might want to check this one out too!A movie you won't soon forget - Willy1
Brubaker is one of the most overlooked films of the 1980s that deserves rediscovery on DVD. It is a powerful, engrossing and thought-provoking film, based on the true story of Thomas O. Murton, a Southern prison warden who battled corruption and inmate indifference while making drastic reforms at an Arkansas institution in 1968. Robert Redford had one of his best middle period roles as the film's renamed protagonist, Henry Brubaker, a superintendent who makes a daring and dangerous decision to go incognito as an inmate, prior to taking over a rundown prison farm.
