From a producer of the outrageous Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Bubble Boy is the hilarious, laugh-out-loud comedy about a sheltered young man (Jake Gyllenhaal - October Sky) who breaks all the rules on a wild adventure to get the girl of his dreams! Though he's lived his entire life within the confines of a protective plastic bubble and under the ever-watchful eye of his overprotective mother (Swoosie Kurtz - Get Over It), Jimmy Livingston (Gyllenhaal) never thought that he'd missed out on anything - until the girl next door (Marley Shelton - Valentine, Sugar & Spice) ran off to get married in Niagara Falls! With the wedding only days away, Jimmy has no choice but to build a mobile "bubble suit" and set off across the country to stop the wedding and confess his love to her!

One thing with this movie... You have to be in a certain mood to watch it. If your looking for a funny, stupid, but entertaining movie, this movie is perfect. It will keep you laughing. For a low-budget movie, it is very well done. We first rented it on Zip, after it being recommended to us by my older brother, and we ended up buying it. A favorite movie in our family. This is a peculiar little comedy that brings fresh air to the boy-meets-girl romantic-comedy movie genre. Although there are many familiar characters and comedic gags, Bubble Boy keeps it all flowing at a good pace. It's like Dumb and Dumber, Rat Race, and Blast From the Past all wrapped up into one bright and shiny new movie. The fish bowl Halloween scene alone shows just how creative the director is able to get; and that's just for the movie's five minute pop-song/time-lapse-montage! I wasn't expecting much when I rented Bubble Boy, but I was pleasantly surprised with the film. Jake Gyllenhaal makes the Bubble Boy charming, funny, and innocent in his quest to find his girl next door before she gets married. Along the way he meets a cast of characters that bring humour and adventure into his journey. Part Pee Wee's Big Adventure and part Road Trip, The Bubble Boy balances innocent humour and gags with more of the almost insulting and crude jokes. But the balance is perfect and the movie is a good laugh.
