Thirty big-named stars, 300-horsepower horseplay and 3,000 breakneck miles: that's the revved-up sequel Cannonball Run II. A real-life race inspired both The Cannonball run and this follow-up. Director Hal Needham drove in a good-natured yet admittedly illegal race called The Cannonball Sea-to-Shinning-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash. To elude the law, Needham and his pals disguised their entry as an ambulance.

Alright what's wrong with me? All signs point to this being a dismal attempt at a sequel, but I honestly think that it's much funnier than the first film. The addition of Charles Nelson Reilly, not to mention Don Knotts and Tim Conway as CHiPs really put it over for me, and I think the story came out better this time around too.
It isn't a great masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination, but it is most definitely funny, and I will pay good money to see Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. pitted against Dom Deluise and Burt Reynolds any day.Remember it is from 1984 - Reggie_Mabe
This is a good movie for a rainy day, slap it in the ol dvd player and sitback. Get ready for some cheap laughs. The comedy is similar to what you see in movies from this era. Have a look at the old cars (new at the time the movie was made). Don't expect to rave about the movie after watching it, but I'm sure you will not regret watching it. One of the reasons I liked this movie is because it's fun to see the different styles from the 80's. I would stongly suggest watching part one first, as you get a good introduction to all the famous characters.
