The first movie totally rocked. Here, I was a little disappointed.
Bill Murray was a better Bosley than Bernie Mac, and Demi Moore is merely adequate as the villain, but both those facts might have something to do with a deeper difference between the two films. In its effort to top the original, Full Throttle ends up too fast, and overstuffed, leaving no room for the actors to breathe. Mac and Moore aren't even given the chance to deliver complete characters. We also got more out of the three title characters the first time around, performance-wise.
These films might be all about fun, but the first one did benefit from a more human touch. This one is all dazzle, and apparently no effort was made to maintain visual continuity. Each "Check this out!" scene looks and feels like it's from a different film. The result is a movie I enjoyed as I watched it, but one that I will probably not watch again. And though one of the joys of the first movie is the way it goes over the top, this one actually goes too far. Director McG forgot that even going over the top has to be done just right.Maintains the tongue in cheek tone of the first. - cathyottawa
To those that say it's all T&A, OF COARSE IT IS!!!! They're making fun of how the show was all T&A, that's the whole joke!
Once again we have the completely unrealistic but totally fun action sequences and fight scenes, and the goofy dialogue and humour.
And we have alot of fun cameos, from Bruce Willis to the Olsen twins, to Jaclyn Smith. There's also a little spoof of CSI that was fun (especially for me - don't like that show).
I'll admit, I didn't enjoy this as much as the first one, and the addition of Demi Moore as the fallen angel was somewhat underwhelming. I also didn't like Bernie Mac as the new Boz (though I didn't like Bill Murray as the old Boz either).
But this was still a fun romp, and if they make a third, I'll be tuning in.Wasn't that bad - Patrick
(Patsy) - I thought this movie was a little less serious than the first movie - but there were some pretty good parts in it. Their comedy style is descent and the action wasn't horrid - it wasn't the greatest, but not horrid. I would recommend this to someone who doesnt really have any expectations of the movie.
