City Hunter
Digitally Remastered!
Based on a popular Japanese comic strip, Hong Kong's high-flying martial arts action hero Jackie Chan stars as private detective Ryu Saeba in City Hunter. Hired to find the runaway daughter of a Japanese publishing tycoon, Ryu's first impulse is to turn the job down - until he sees a picture of the beautiful Shizuko (Kumiko Goto). Hot on her heels, Ryu tracks her down on board a cruise ship, and much to the annoyance of his jealous female sidekick Kaori (Joey Wong) the womanizing Ryu seems more interested in catching Shizuko's attention than returning her safely to her father...
However, Ryu's romantic plans quickly go astray when a gang of ruthless criminals hijack the ship and hold the passengers to ransom. To save the day Jackie Chan's unique action style reigns supreme in a series of brilliantly conceived fight sequences as Ryu swings into action to dispatch the bad guys and rescue the gorgeous Shizuko!

I love Jackie Chan - his energy, persona, and amazing talent as a martial arts/stunt-man. However, this movie just doesn't measure up.
To say it's over-the-top is an understatement. Jackie is fun to watch but his character is a bit too cartoonish for my liking, granted the whole story comes from Japanese anime, so maybe I'm being a little too harsh.
If you like juvenile humour combined with non-stop action, then you might enjoy this movie. However, if you like your entertainment a bit more mature or adult, I'd give this one a pass.
Thumbs down.Very funny, very cool, very fun film - XTRUClerk
I disagree with everyone on this matter -- so you may not want to take my word for it -- but City Hunter is one of the best Jackie Chan films ever! It has two or three of the best fist fights scenes I've ever seen him in -- no joking -- even if they are sort of short. It's also fall down funny. It helps to have a knowledge of the City Hunter Manga or Anime, but it's not necessary, the movie works on its own. It's also one of the few times you'll see Jackie handle a gun, a whole lot of guns! If you need to compare this one to something, Hudson Hawk is as good a match as any. The humor, the action, the zaniness are all similar. Do I hear you say that everyone says that movie is bad? Well, yes, but you see, that's another instance when I disagree with most people. Cheers.Decent Movie - TheDon
Wasn't one of Jackie's Best films but he is always entertaining. I had seen a clip of the whole street fighter fight on the internet and had no idea it was from an actual movie, sure enough it was from this movie and is why I originally rented it. The street fighter battle is hilarious. I know I always complain about the fact that I prefer the movies to be subbed but I really don't mind english audio in Jackie films as long as he is the one dubbing his own voice because then atleast it actually sounds like him. Well in this film its definately some spunky white guy doing his voice and after awhile you forget about it but it is a little annoying at first. Also i would like to point out that it is based off a Manga so it actually has a story! Yes its true. But anyways Jackie is always fun to watch so this is a movie to check out when your bored or if your a Jackie fan.
