City Slickers
Comic genius Billy Crystal (When Harry Met Sally) stars in this hilarious film about cowboys, careers and mid-life crises. Co-starring Daniel Stern, Bruno Kirby and Jack Palance in an Academy Award®-winning role, City Slickers is "the rowdiest western jokefest since Blazing Saddles (Rolling Stone). It'll rope you in...and keep you laughing from first frame to last.
New Yorker Mitch Robbins (Crystal) is 39 and miserable. He's tired of his job and bored with his life. And his two best friends Ed (Kirby) and Phil (Stern) aren't doing much better. So when they all decide to chase their troubles away with a fantasy vacation, Mitch and his pals trade their briefcases for saddle bags and set out to find freedom and adventure herding cattle under the wide New Mexico sky. But what they discover instead is scorching sun, sore backsides...and more insight into themselves - and each other - than they ever thought possible!

NOW I HAVE DONE CATTLE DRIVES FOR MY UNCLE'S FARMS BELIEVE ME OR NOT AND I WAS SO INTERESTED IN THIS MOVIE TO SEE IF THEY COULD NAIL IT OR NOT. BILLY CRYSTAL AND CAST DO, THIS GUT SPLITTING COMEDY MAKES YOU LAUGH FROM THE GET GO AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A COWBOY TO BELIEVE HOW 3 MID-LIFE CRISIS MEN GO TO A DUDE RANCH TO DO A CATTLE DRIVE AND FIND OUT THINGS ABOUT THEMSELVES. JACK PALANCE WAS PERFECT FOR THE ROLE OF CURLY AND IN A WAY THIS MOVIE SUMMED UP HOW I FEEL ON CATTLE DRIVES MY EVERYDAY LIFE GOES AWAY FOR THE TIME I AM RIDING AND I AM ONLY THINKING OF MOVING THE HERD. THIS WAS THE BETTER OF THE TWO MOVIES THEY DID AND YOU CAN'T GO WRONG RENTING THIS ONE. ENJOYStill 'Slick' - Drudey
City Slickers entertained me enormously when I was a younger because it has some good, solid laughs. Nowadays, it still entertains me but it touches me too. That's probably what makes it such a great film: the skillful intertwining of humour, emotion and action.
All in all, still worth a view many years later and my teens enjoyed it too!Better than you might expect. - cathyottawa
With a lame title, a goofy poster, and a premise usually reserved for silly slapstick comedy, this movie doesn't look like is has much to offer.
But you'll be surprised just how touching, funny, and well told this story is. The premise is simple - three guys approaching 40, and in a rut in their lives, go on a cattle drive, hoping to find adventure and excitement.
What they find is renewed purpose, motivation, and inspiration.
Jack Palance as the old cowboy is just perfect in his role, and he won an Oscar for his work here. "When Harry Met Sally" fans will enjoy the reunion of Billy Crystal and Bruno Kirby.
Sweet but not too sweet, funny, and life affirming, they got everything right here.
