A Trip Back to Childhood - dougric
As a previous poster stated, this was a movie that, in the late 80s, I used to watch once a week...would get up at 6am on Saturday mornings just for the thrill of the ride! I even showed this at my 9th birthday party and talked my Grade 6 teacher into showing it in class in 1989...anyway...
While not as flawlessly funny as I remember when I was younger, this is still a gloriously silly ride. I can still, after all these years, still quote many of the lines, and ADORE Miss White (RIP Madeline Kahn) and her ad-lib near the end of the movie ("flames on the side of my face, heaving breathless, heaving breaths!")...and the three endings are quite a creative twist.
Is it an all-time classic? Perhaps not...but a pretty nifty ride for those who are willing to engage in the witty, silly, hilarious ride. Enjoy!Love this movie! - drvan
I have seen this movie over 300 times!!! No, I'm serious. When I was a kid, I would watch it once a week. Not surprisingly, I've memorized every line in the film. I love all of the characters and their brillant wit. The one-liners are hilarious, as is the slapstick. While I don't watch it once a week anymore, I still enjoy sitting down with this crazy bunch and going along for the ride. Critically panned, I would agrue that it's still worth watching for a good laugh... one hell of a lot better than the mindless drivel in theatres nowadays. Here's a clue.... its a great one! - HUTCH
One of my all time favs, a true jem that I'm sure most don't even know about. witty and fast paced though its hard to call it original, being based on a board game, but even that funny fact goes to show you this one is unique, to say the least. I especially enjoyed, the multiple choice, choose your own adventure type endings, this is the only movie I have ever seen this type of plot devise in and its great. Two Thumbs up
