Chevy Chase, Jack Palance and Dianne Wiest star in the comedy caper about a mild-mannered accountant whose dreams of being a supercop come hilariously to life.
In the pursuit of a dangerous counterfeiter, grizzled cop Jack Stone (Palance) convinces a suburban family to let him use their home for an extended stakeout. But this "typical" family is anything but, with a pratfalling father (Chase) whose cop show obsession endangers the whole operation. Reuniting the director and star of Fletch, Cops & Robbersons combines fast-moving farce, sight gags and physical comedy for arresting entertainment.

should of been a SNL skit - omega
Some parts were funny, for the most part this was painful to watch. Maybe It was the age of the film, or maybe Jack Palance just mumbles his lines, whatever it was i could only get every 3rd word. I get that it is supposed to be light and goofy, but come on this puts a whole new level to lame. Chevy chase makes me laugh, especially in National Lampoons movies, this one not sooo much.

Chevy Chase and Jack Palance star in this comedy about a stakeout in suburbia. Chase plays a clueless suburbanite who has a known criminal living next door to him. Palance plays a cop who has never had a family or feelings. Chase's family ends up adopting him after Palance stays at their house on a stakeout of the next door neighbor. Hilarity ensues. I particularly liked the kid who pretends to be a vampire. He sleeps in a box every night!
I was a little disturbed with Palance's younger partner hooking up with Chevy's young teenage daughter. It seemed kind of unprofessional.Cops and Morons - movie_goer
Late Jack Palance is a Movie legend. I always look forward to his work, This film isn't his greatest masterpiece, i don't blame him just the script and chevy chase who made the story saturate in corny-cheesyness. Cops and Robberson is about Chase as a cop wannabe who gets his small break when Palance does a sercret steak-out in his house. Somehow Chase wrecks that for him when he smoozes with the criminal and snoops into dangerzone to feel the rush.
