Cuba
"Thought-Provoking, Fast-Moving And Totally Absorbing!" -The Hollywood Reporter
Sean Connery (Entrapment) and Brooke Adams (Gas Food Lodging) lead an all-star cast in this sweeping story about two old flames who become caught up in the turbulence and exhilaration of Cuba's revolution.
Havana, Cuba. 1959. A tropical island paradise is on the brink of revolution. Robert Dapes (Connery), a cynical British mercenary, comes to the country at the request of one of Batista's most corrupt functionaries, General Bello (Martin Balsam). But once there, Dapes finds himself unable to ignore the brutality and depravity of the Batista regime -- and unable to resist Alexandra Pulido (Adams), an old lover now married to a wealthy Cuban landowner. Surrounded by volatile guerilla fighters and the human vultures present at all coups, he must come to terms with his shifting views if he has any though of getting out...alive.

Part Heaven, Part Hell and Pure Havana! - Diana
In 1979, when this movie was filmed (all of it in Southern Spain, not Cuba), I was living and working in Seville, Spain. As a former film student, I jumped at the oportunity to work as an American tourist extra - even got to meet Sean Connery! Anyway, despite the fact that I am in the film, I can't even bring myself to watch it since it is so bad (although I have heard that it gets better with age...). The film crew experienced all kinds of delays due to weather and other production problems, and while director Richard Lester was shooting, the script was still being written. Consequently, two endings were shot and the one eventually used is straight out of "Casablanca".
While the setting is supposed to be tropical Cuba the film was shot in the winter when it was damp and cold which made everyone miserable on the set. The black "Cuban" people in the film were actually Americans recruited from the military base in Rota, Spain. Definitely not worth renting!Cuba – Don’t bother with this one - TheProf
Even Sean Connery couldn’t save this one. Boring. Boring. Boring. The title is the only tantalizing aspect of this movie. After waiting for forty-five minutes for something to happen, which did not, I could not even finish it. Bad story line, bad direction, bad acting … there is really nothing else to say.
