Curly Sue
"Ranks with John Hughes' best work. A heartwarming fantasy with a lot of humor." - Roger Ebert "Siskel & Ebert"
Chicago. Another town, another scam for vagabond Bill Dancer (James Belushi) and the curly-topped orphan (Alisan Porter) he's raised since infancy. This time, Bill hits the jackpot: his newest con whisks them both from the poorhouse to the penthouse with lots of laughs along the way.
From hitmaker John Hughes, Curly Sue also stars Kelly Lynch as an attorney who falls for the plotting pair and takes them home. It's all too good to be true until her jealous boyfriend (John Getz) intervenes.
Pat Collins of WWOR-TV/ New York pronounced Curly Sue "the feel-good comedy of the season." But with Hughes' wisecracking wit and tender touch, it's really a prize entertainment for any season.

I haven't watched this movie in several years. I loved the movie when I first saw it and I was happy to find out that it still contained a certain magic. I always get choked up at the end. Any movie that you go through a wide range of emotions is always a movie that I enjoy.Worth seeing again - Hillenshamm
This was one of my wife's favourite movies. She bought the video tape just days after it came out and watched it regularly. Then she lent it to someone and never got it back. Nor did she replace it. Seeing it again so many years later, I thought that she would probably find it a bit cheesy, but instead she fell in love all over again. I think that is one of the highest compliments you can pay to any piece of art.
A finely crafted script with truly witty lines, good story structure, and solid performances make this a classic worth coming back to.What if Oliver Twist was a Girl? - FilmJunkie
At the time it was funny, a tough little street urchin who talks tough, but is a girl! Oliver Twist with a...twist.
It is funny in parts with one of Jim Belushi's best roles ever and she is a heart-breakingly good little actress, Kelly Lynch is a bit dull, but I suppose it fits her role.
A good remembrance of the tough kid flicks of the early 90's
