Dances With Wolves
This is the 236 minute extended version!
Winner of Seven Academy Awards Including Best Picture
This "extraordinary film" (Leonard Maltin) stars Kevin Costner as a lone Union Army soldier whose station at a desolate outpost puts him in the path of the impending collision between Native Americans and the ever-encroaching white man. At once a "sweeping epic" (Newsweek) and "a simple story magnificently told" (Roger Ebert), Dances With Wolves is a stupendous film to stand for the ages.
This disc includes the movie and the audio commentaries.

This is an epic film in every sense of the word. Kevin Costner outdid himself here. The scenery and music are for lack of a better word awesome. I rented this because I hadn't seen it in a few years and this was the 4 hour monster but it did not seem that long I could not believe how well the movie flowed. Your interest is captured and held throughout the movie. I give it two thumbs up Great movieWaited Too Long - Rymi
I waited a long time to see this film and actually saw it after I heard a friend compare it with Avatar. While the concepts are somewhat similar, I think I prefer the pacing of this film over Avatar. I feel like Costner has a reputation for making crappy movies that really isn't warranted. He really is a good dramatic actor, a perfect fit for this very dramatic film.Dances With Wolves - exackery
Stupendous might be an overstatement. It is a good solid film that has stood up well to the test of time. Still very watchable. Costner narrates a lot in the background and that has a certain appeal I liked. Having the natives speak in their own tongue (subtitled) was a nice touch and gave their characters more realism. A very character driven movie --> well cast but for one mistake. Mary McDonnell kinda sucked. She was somewhat melodramatic and definitely didn't fit the character. A small blem easily overlooked. Worth a watch.
