Darkman
They destroyed everything he had, everything he was. Now, crime has a new enemy, and justice has a new face.
Dr. Peyton Westlake is on the verge of realizing a major breakthrough in synthetic skin when a gang, led by the sadistic Robert G. Durant obliterates his laboratory.
Burned beyond recognition and altered by an experimental medical procedure, Westlake attempts to rebuild his laboratory and reestablished ties with his former girlfriend Julie. But his most challenging task lies within himelf.
Torn between his desire to create a new life with Julie and his quest for revenge, the man known as Darkman begins to assume alternate identities in this stunning, fast-paced action thriller from director Sam Raimi.

not quite camp - paddyboy
I thought these three movies could only be described as corny. The first entry was especially bad, but not enough so to be classed as 'camp'. I am surprised that an actor of Liam Neeson's talent would star in a movie like this. He recited his lines as though he felt this was part comedy, without really believing what he was saying.
The following two movies seemed more serious, without Liam Neeson as 'Darkman'; perhaps he had had enough after the first effort.
I could only recommend these films to true lovers of vengence stories. The lost and forgotten hero... - movie_goer
Never heard of this movie, but found it by fluke.
Darkman is Intriguing, Orginal and fast pace (something i like in movies).
The director toke the off beat approach, plus it was made before the over budget Hero movies becames popular. I find Most hero movies have way too much Violence and The History backtrack of the Villians and Heroes can be daunting. This is 1 uncomplicated but sophisticated and underatted movie.Evil Dead meets comic book hero - Spamdini
There are certain scenes that provide evidence that Sam Raimi, director of the Evil Dead trilogy, had his hands in this affair. However, his first big budget Hollywood picture more closely resembles Robocop as a whole: violent, disturbing and yet a little uplifting! It manages to be a fun summer movie experience, but with a touch of tragedy thrown in to give it a slightly deeper meaning.
One bothersome aspect is that the very aspect that makes him Darkman (his masks don't dissolve in the dark) is never delved into.
One of the best superhero movies of the 90's, even if it doesn't quite fit into that category.
