Death To Smoochy
Kids love him. TV execs adore him. Sheesh, it's enough to make out-of-work-kiddie-show host Rainbow Randolph puke purple. Ever since that plush, fuchsia-hued, platitude spouting Smoochy the Rhino started Jiggy-Ziggy dancing in Randolph's time slot, he has just one mad goal: turn the rhino into a dead duck.
Danny DeVito takes the rhino by the horn to direct and co-star in this gleefully twisted skewering of children's TV. Robin Williams, his famed wit set at warp, plays ranting Randolph. Edward Norton is the high minded goodnik whose righteous-rhino creation becomes a sensation, and Catherine Keener portrays a jaded exec who like kid show hosts in, let's say a grown up way. Say nite-nite, rhino!

Good fun movie. It's entertaining and the story was smart and witty with lots of oddballs thrown around. Nice cast to go along with Williams and Norton who were very funny.
Fired in disgrace, kids show host Randolph Smiley finds himself out on the street, while his replacement Sheldon Mopes, finds himself on the fast track to success with a new hit show as the proud purple rhino Smoochy. But things take a turn for the worst when Sheldon finds out that some of the people that he works with, and some he doesn't know he's working for, are all in it for the money. Meanwhile, Randolph is slowly turning insane with his only thoughts focusing on killing Smoochy and getting back to his life of luxury.
This movie has a wild combination of elements make an enjoyable black comedy. A tired kids' show host, Rainbow Randolph (Robin Williams), plans death to the new Purple Rhino named TV host named "Smoochy" (Edward Norton). The mob get involved, and it's literally a hit. I like all the songs and skits; a lot of funny stuff goes on behind the scenes of the Kids' show. The ice show spectacular at the end is superb. He, he, he! - TV_Adict
This movie is hilarious - anyone who doesn't think it's funny has no sense of humour. Norton does a briliant straight man, Williams is a hilarous down-and-out crook, and the whole cast just rocks! The look at the seedy underside of kids shows is very twisted and totally funny, complete with bribery, kick-backs, and mobsters. The Irish gang is particularly brilliant, and all the bad guys get what's coming to them in a most enjoyable and not at all mealy way. Norton's character stays good, Williams' gets redeemed, and the plot all works. Can't say that about most movies.Hilarious! - josh2
This movie is totally worth watching! Its absolutely hilarious, and very original. I don't really like Robin Williams but in this movie he is really good and fits the part very well. I can't compare this movie to anything really because I have never seen a movie like this one. It was very original, well written, and the acting very good. So many parts in the movie are hilarious and there's hardly any parts were I was bored. Even though it seems like a kids movie I would not recommend it has there is a bit of "adult themes" and I don't think it would be very appropriate for children. Overall a great funny movie which I'm sure most people would enjoy.
