Death To Smoochy (Full Frame)
Kids love him. TV execs adore him. Sheesh, it's enough to make out-of-work-kiddie-show host Rainbow Randolph puke purple. Ever since that plush, fuchsia-hued, platitude spouting Smoochy the Rhino started Jiggy-Ziggy dancing in Randolph's time slot, he has just one mad goal: turn the rhino into a dead duck.
Danny DeVito takes the rhino by the horn to direct and co-star in this gleefully twisted skewering of children's TV. Robin Williams, his famed wit set at warp, plays ranting Randolph. Edward Norton is the high minded goodnik whose righteous-rhino creation becomes a sensation, and Catherine Keener portrays a jaded exec who like kid show hosts in, let's say a grown up way. Say nite-nite, rhino!

Good fun movie. It's entertaining and the story was smart and witty with lots of oddballs thrown around. Nice cast to go along with Williams and Norton who were very funny.
Fired in disgrace, kids show host Randolph Smiley finds himself out on the street, while his replacement Sheldon Mopes, finds himself on the fast track to success with a new hit show as the proud purple rhino Smoochy. But things take a turn for the worst when Sheldon finds out that some of the people that he works with, and some he doesn't know he's working for, are all in it for the money. Meanwhile, Randolph is slowly turning insane with his only thoughts focusing on killing Smoochy and getting back to his life of luxury.
This movie has a wild combination of elements make an enjoyable black comedy. A tired kids' show host, Rainbow Randolph (Robin Williams), plans death to the new Purple Rhino named TV host named "Smoochy" (Edward Norton). The mob get involved, and it's literally a hit. I like all the songs and skits; a lot of funny stuff goes on behind the scenes of the Kids' show. The ice show spectacular at the end is superb.
