Desert Blue
"Genuinely Charming And Engaging." -Jonathan Foreman, NEW YORK POST
When cable TV starlet Skye gest stuck in the tiny town of Baxter, California, with her kitsch-crazy dad, the last thing she wants to do is get to know the local teens, a restless group that includes pyro chick Ely, her motorcross racer boyfriend Pete and loner Blue. When a mysterious chemical spill forces the FBI to put the town under quarantine, Skye has no choice but to stay put -- and when she starts to fall in love with Blue, she realizes she might not be in such a rush to get back to the big city after all.
A film by Morgan J. Freeman (Hurricane Streets), Desert Blue is a rare and original comedy featuring a knockout ensemble cast, including Brendan Sexton III (Welcome To The Dollhouse), Kate Hudson (Scream III), John Heard (TV's "The Sopranos"), Casey Affleck (Good Will Hunting), Sara Gilbert (TV's "Roseanne"), and Christina Ricci (The Opposite Of Sex).

Lame - FilmJunkie
Bad writing, bad directing and bad acting coupled with a lame overall concept leads to a dull movie that wastes its cast and the songs of my favorite band (Rilo Kiley).
Kate Hudson plays a TV starlet stuck in an incredibly small town (87 people) in the middle of the desert when a 'secret formula' truck over-turns and the FBI become involved. Christina Ricci plays a pyro, Brendan Sexton III attempts to be a leading man when he was always best suited to small character parts, while Peter Sarsgaard, Sara Gilbert, Ethan Suplee and Casey Affleck fall by the wayside of small town slacker stereotypes.
There isn't much that could have saved this film, the writing is just that bad. However the scenery is interesting to look at and perhaps a more talented screenwriter could create an interesting storyline out of it in the future.
