Divine Secrets Of The Ya-Ya Sisterhood
Mothers. Daughters. The neverending story of good vs. evil.
Like mother, like daughter. Neither New York playwright Sidda Lee Walker nor her eccentric Louisiana mother Vivi will likely take steps to mend the rift between them. No, this is a job for the Ya-Ya Sisterhood.
The Ya-Yas- sworn lifelong friends of Vivi -stage an unorthodox "intervention" to bring daughter and mother together in this warm adaptation of Rebecca Wells' bestsellers, written for the screen and directed by Callie Khouri (Thelma & Louise). Sandra Bullock plays Sidda and leads a stellar cast: Ellen Burstyn, Ashley Judd, James Garner, Fionnula Flanagan, Shirley Knight, Maggie Smith, and more. "This sisterhood is powerful and powerfully funny," The Philadelphia Inquirer's Carrie Rickey wrote: Ya-Ya to that!

Good chick flick, but horrible examples to kids. Shows that drinking and smoking is cool. I had a bit of a problem with that, and I was a teen when I first saw it. It made me wish I had grown up with 3 best friends like that anyway though. I still loved the movie it was great and an awesome film to watch with either your best friends or your mother. I wish they had made the sequels to it!Among the best - Radio_Jane
Seeing as some of the relationships and events in this movie mirror those within my own family, I understand the characters in the film and thus enjoy it more. It is one of those delightful comedic and sentimental movies that works with often dark and painful subject matter, bringing it into the light and bringing hope and courage to the characters. The first thing that hits you is how wonderfully funny it is, specifically Ellen Burstyn and Maggie Smith. as well as that delightful Angus Mcfayden as Bullocks long suffering fiance. Ashley Judd who is a flashback of the younger Burstyn, brings truth to her character's demons. However, the best performance is perhaps Garner's, who's heartbreaking acceptance of the fact that the woman he loves with all his heart views him as a second choice is so painully palpable it brings tears to your eyes.It is a powerful story of family secrets, friendships and family. So get your daughter or you mother and bond over this one.Divine Secrets - monty
I thought this was on of the greatest chick flicks I've seen. It made me wish I had a relationship with my girlfriends like the YaYa Sisterhood. I would definately rent this movie again or buy it for my collection of "must see" again movies. I would recommend it to all my girlfriends.
