Dominick And Eugene
Two brothers are about to discover what they need most in their lives...each other.
Best Actor Oscar® nominee Tom Hulce (Amadeus) is outstanding in this heartwarming triumph of feel-good filmmaking. This "astonishing" (Toronto Sun), "spellbinding" (L.A. Weekly) and "touching exploration of family loyalty" (Blockbuster Entertainment Guide) shimmers with subtle insights into human compassion - and shines with Hulce's award-winning performance!
"Hulce is superb" (Leonard Maltin) as Dominick, an affectionate twenty-six year-old who's been left "slower" than most due to a childhood accident. Working as a garbage man, "Nicky" manages to support himself and his brother Eugene (Ray Liotta, Heartbreakers), a med student who's always watched over him. But when Eugene's ambitions open a door for him at Stanford and he develops an interest in a fellow student (Jamie Lee Curtis), Nicky's worst fears are realized. Can the two of them forge ahead with separate lives when they've depended on each other for so long?

I have always really loved this movie, and enjoy watching it every now and again with people who may have missed it the first time round. Some may consider it overly sentimental, and at moments it strains a bit to squeeze extra emotion unnecessarily, but I manage to become teary every time. The relationship between the brothers is really touching and heartwarming. Rent it and enjoy the nuanced performance of Tom Hulce in particular.Excellent - Phil_the_First
Hulce gives a remarkable performance in this movie, every bit as good as Hoffman's much lauded portrayal in the Rainman. This is a well written and finely acted movie all round. The one caveat I have is that with a PG rating and a description on the paper jacket for this DVD which describes" a heartwarming triumph of feel-good filmmaking" I felt it was going to be appropriate for my 11 year old son; however, he could not continue to watch the movie because it was too emotionally harrowing even though from the start of the movie he was engrossed by the story. This is a wonderful movie and I heartily recommend it but it is not appropriate for a sensitive child.
