Don King: Only In America
He took on the FBI, the IRS, judges, juries and the mob. Fight after fight, he was always left standing.
From running numbers to "The Rumble in the Jungle." From Muhammad Ali to Joe Frazier, Larry Holmes and Mike Tyson, promoter Don King made millions, and made millionaires, making himself the biggest name in boxing since boxing began. But how he got there- making and breaking the law and anyone who got in his way- is the kind of story that could only happen in America. Don King is a hustler wit dreams. A numbers runner in Cleveland, guilty of manslaughter ad killing in self-defense, he soon builds himself a music and entertainment empire making a few friends, and quite a few enemies along the way. When an introduction to Ali in 1971 turns his life around, he sets himself up as a boxing promoter with the single aim of making it to the big time. In pursuit of his great American dream, he wouldn't always fight clean, he wouldn't always fight fair, but Don King would always fight to win.

Even HBO fails sometimes..... - Cricri7
Don King and HBO should have meant an incredible movie! He has lead a very interesting life and HBO usually makes good productions. This is not the case here. You go back and forth in his life while he is in the ring commenting on it. With the kind of life he led, this should have been very interesting. On top of it, there were incredible actors in this production. VIng Rhames did a good job but the script was not very strong. Sadly, I do not recommend it.King of the ring - jagfilm
Following Don King's humble beginnings, and focusing mostly on his rise during the Ali era, "Only In America" is a solid biopic that captures the savvy and dishonesty of one of America's greatest promoters. The casting from Ving Rhames right on down is solid, though Darius McCrary (best known as Eddie Winslow on "Family Matters") is unable to play Ali with any degree of conviction. An fascinating look at one of the most intriguing and at times disturbing hucksters of modern times.
