Dr. Seuss' The Cat In The Hat
So they sat in the house...on that cold, cold wet day...with no fun to have...and no games to play...and then something went bump! It's fun to have fun but you have to know how-the Cat has arrived to catapult Conrad and Sally's boredom into the most frolicking, fun-filled fabulous day they've ever had! But the Cat's crazy games bring a whole lot of trouble and he must go, go, go before their mom gets home. The mischievous feline visitor in the striped stove-pipe hat makes his big-screen debut with this live-action production, which will bring the delightfully off-kilter Dr. Seuss characters-as well as some new ones created especially for the film-to life on the big screen. The nearly 50-year old beloved Dr. Seuss' The Cat In The Hat franchise remains one of the Top 10 Best-Selling hardcover children’s books of all time.

Having gained an appreciation for Dr. Seuss' books as an adult, I thought that this movie might capture some of the charm that has been entertaining children for decades. Unfortunetly I was not so lucky. There is no magic no rivetting sotry telling. Obviously some childrens books should not find their way to filmEntertains the Intended Audience - TheShamus
Imagine Entertainment has taken on childrens classics such as, "The Cat in the Hat", "Curious George" and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" -- with fairly uneven results. "Uneven is a good way to describe the movie".
If the review was left simply to my sensibilities, I might use the word, "boring". It's all sizzle, with no steak!
The special effects and sets are imaginitive, but still limited by the fact this is a "live action" feature. I'm not sure why movie companies feel live action versions of animated features/shorts are such a great idea.
The main problem with this film is a bland story line. Mike Meyers does what he can with the comedy. There are some winks to the parents with some innuendo -- but it does not work as an adult show.
Your kids might be entertained -- my young daughter likes this movie just because it has, "The Cat in the Hat". I suppose the movie could have been worse, and she would still like it.
This movie wasn't made for adults -- it was for the kids ... and to that end, they are at least partially successful.

I love the Dr. Seuss original book. I must have read it to my daughter dozens of times. We viewed the movie together, and I was disappointed. My 6 year old daughter went GAGA over it. Large belly laughs and hoots and snickers all the way along. Once it was finished she asked if it could be played again. She has already asked me to get a copy for the collection. Great for the kids, but Mike Myers and forgetable cast miss the mark with the adult crowd.
