Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story
The Mystery. The Life. The Love. The Legend.
Jason Scott Lee and Lauren Holly star in this unforgettable glimpse into the life, love, and the unconquerable spirit of the legendary Bruce Lee. After a childhood of rigorous martial arts training, young Bruce Lee (Jason Scott Lee) escapes the street-brawls of Hong Kong to enter college in America. However, racial taunts and prejudice force him to unleash his powerful skills. Soon, scorn changes to respect and opponents become allies as Lee opens his own kung-fu school, defying his own peers who want to keep the secrets of martial arts techniques within the Asian community. Marrying a former student who shares his dreams (Lauren Holly), Lee is discovered by a Hollywood producer (Robert Wagner) and begins a meteoric rise to fame and a tragically short reign that comes to a sudden end just as film audiences worldwide begin to discover his charismatic appeal.

You don't have to be a fan of martial arts movies, or even a fan of Bruce Lee to enjoy this film.
Bruce's story is the story of most immigrants to America - he faces racism, he struggles to get a job and make something of himself. This is the story of the American Dream, as Lee works hard, and has it pay off when he opens a martial arts school.
When he does start to work in television, racism rears it's head again - Lee was completely and unfairly robbed of the role in the Kung Fu series that went to David Carradine.
Jason Scott Lee does a great job of capturing Bruce's humour, generosity of spirit, and optimism.
Lauren Holly is a good choice to play his American wife, and we see how they had to struggle, particularily in that time, against racism as a couple, even from their own families.
Of coarse some poetic licence is taken (I highly doubt that Lee had a martial arts fight with the cooks in the alley of the restaurant he worked at), but overall, this was a good portrayal of an interesting man who died too soon.My Mentor - ryunoshisho
If there was every anyone who I seen as my hero or Mentor it would be Bruce Lee. I can still remember back to when I was a young boy and my older brother would bring home one of Bruce's movies, and we would watch it 3 times in 1 day. This movie I feel does justice to Bruce Lee's life, even though some inactments are not 100% true the movie is still a joy to watch.A moving and complex life - tanlaw
