Dreamcatcher
Evil Slips Through
Jonesy, Henry, Pete and Beaver are bonded by friendship...and by the strange powers each acquired on a fateful day in their childhood. But now a horrific entity is putting their friendship and powers to the test, and some of the four will die. And some will save the world from a menace unlike anything ever seen.
Suspense. Heroism. Awesome effects. They're all unleashed in this Stephen King tale adapted by William Goldman and director/co-writer Lawrence Kasdan. A splendid cast, headed by Morgan Freeman as a shoot-first alien hunter, powers the eerie goings-on ranging from a monster flushfest to a massive animal migration to inner mindscapes and beyond. Dreamcatcher: it's a sci-fi/horror fan's dream come true.

I, too, don't like the horror, but in this case, there is more sci-fi and friendship, and a lot of mental powers and characterization for the movie to be enjoyable with a good FFW function when things turn briefly to horror. Freeman is awesome, as always, and the story is very solid throughout. The alien is also rather intriguing, at least when he is in Jonesy's body. The ending makes up for the flaws - Screening_Blue
As a Stephen King fan, the book Dreamcatcher was never my favourite, but I have to say that as far as adaptations to screen goes (when it comes to King's work) this is perhaps the best one. So basically I am saying that the best screen adaptation of one of King's work was for one of his less stellar novels. If the acting wasn't exactly topnotch, it wasn't terrible either. Many fine actors here, topped by a somewhat cameo appearance from Morgan Freeman. I love Jason Lee's work and he is a little "Scream 2" here but still very entertaining. Favourite "funny" scene goes to him trying to keep an alien baby trapped in the toilet while reaching for a toothpick! He loses of course. Absolutely brilliant! While some of the aliens were a little cheesy, I think the ending made up for the cheesiness. Worth watching. No Fuss. No Harm. - CaptainRhodes
It seems by the all the reviews I have read regarding Dreamcatcher that one either loves it or despises the film. Well I didn't love it or hate it. It was entertaining enough to waste a couple of hours but certainly not worthy of a purchase or running my mouth with a recommendation to anyone that will listen. Kings adaptions are always risky business so I would say Dreamcatcher is right down the middle between the great and the horrible. Think The Shining and Pet Cemetery as the great and Children of the corn and The Mangler as the garbage and you'll get an idea of what to expect.
