this movie was super funny at times, it made me laugh out loud, a definate must see. A good pick for the whole family. This is one of those oldies but a goodie, and should be recommended to all whom like witty funny flicks.
When your down and feeling a bit blue, put ed on and you might see similarieties from his life to yours.Has lost it's relevance. - cathyottawa
This was meant to be a cautionary tale about reality TV.
That strange Hollywood phenomenon where two movies come out on the same subject within a short period of time (Capote anyone?) happenned here, and Jim Carrey's The Truman Show beat this movie to the punch.
But, while The Truman Show was much more surreal, this was more realistic - a guy is followed by cameras 24/7.
This came out just before shows like Survivor, and Big Brother blew up. Now that reality TV is so prevalant, this film seems a little mundane. We already know what being a reality TV star can do to a person.
And with shows like Jessica Simpson's Newlyweds and The Osbournes, it seems this movie inspired more than detracted from the genre.
Maybe if it had tried to be more of a drama (again like Truman), instead of a goofball comedy, it would have had some staying power.
As it is, it's just boring and predictable.
