Once upon a time in a castle high on a hill lived an inventor who's greatest creation was named Edward. Although Edward had an irresistible charm, he wasn't quite perfect. The inventor's sudden death left him unfinished, with sharp shears of metal for hands. Edward lived alone in the darkness until one day a kind Avon lady took him home to live with her family. So began Edward's fantastical adventures in a pastel paradise known as Suburbia.

Johnny Depp is a pale-faced freak, part machine and part man, living alone in a castle who is rescued by an Avon lady (played by a hilarious Dianne Wiest.) Edward Scissorhands has a beautiful soul but is misunderstood by pretty much everyone in the suburban town where he winds up. The themes here are universal - it's about falling in love.Edward Scissorhands - Jude
This is an excellent movie, much better than I expected. Johnny Depp was, and is, a genius. What a wonderful portrayal of unique character. The entire cast is very good, and the story is fascinating, and "as old as time". If you are looking for a Golden Oldie, give this one a viewing.Heartbreaking film! - michaelpackard
The tale of Edward Scissorhands is a heartbreaking one; anyone who ever felt like an outsider will sympathize with the title character as he tries to fit in (and is made to try to fit in). Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder do a fantastic job of bringing this Tim Burton project to life.
