The Emperor's Club
"Two Thumbs Up!" -Ebert & Roeper
Academy Award winner Kevin Kline (A Fish Called Wanda, The Big Chill) delivers "yet another Oscar-worthy performance" (Bill Zwecker, FOX-TV) in this compelling and inspiring story about a revered teacher and the students whose lives he changes forever.
The Emperor's Club is an unforgettable, powerfully uplifting story about the meaning of honor and integrity, in a movie Jeffrey Lyons of WNBC-TV calls, "one of the best films of the year."

Dead Poet Society is much better. - Phyllis
This movie was like a broken pen sitting on an empty piece of paper. There are no words, no feeling, just a blotch of ink staining the page. And though one can be curious of what could have been, it's just a blotch and a broken pen - nothing more. If they wanted to copy Dead Poet Society, they should have used the same name with a "2". At least it wouldn't have been like a streaker hiding behind a trench coat. Dead Poet Society characters are more intense and more real. Save yourself the heartache of another bad movie and move on to anything else but this! The Real "Dead Poets" - Gaucho
Sadly, the tale about the teacher coming and changing kids life tends to miss out on much of reality. Here, in this film, it describes the bitter and optomistic truth behind teaching, being leading kids to the deep waters of truth and hoping they might drink.
Well acted, with a lot of subtle performances. The story moves with a clear pacing that, only after seeing the whole movie, do you get. There is a twist, but the enjoyment of the movie doesn't hang on the twist.
Check it out.A Real Gem - Drudey
Kevin Kline is a great actor. We all know his smart-ass comedy style (A Fish Called Wanda), but his dramatic work is also spot on.
The Emperor's Club is faintly reminiscent of Robin William's BEST FILM 'Dead Poet's Society'. Set in a upper class boy's private school in the mid 1970's, Kline is an inspirational teacher in(what can be) a boring subject. A strong ending supports a strong film. Worth watching. 4.5 stars!
