Executive Decision
Five miles above the earth, an elite team of six men must make an air to air transfer, in order to save 400 lives on board a 747 and 40 million below.
The mission: board a hijacked 747 in midair. Avoid detection. Locate and disable a hair-triggered nerve-toxin bomb that could wipe out the U.S. Eastern Seaboard. Execute a split-second attack that overwhelms the terrorists and safeguards the passengers. Do it all without air-to-ground radio. And do it before an increasingly jittery U.S. military blasts the airliner out of the sky.

The One Where They Kill Steven Seagal - nightwalker
For many years -- until 2010 when Machete was released -- this movie held the neigh unbelievable distinction of being the only film in which a character played by Steven Seagal died.
Playing true to type, Seagal is cast as Lt. Colonel Austin Travis, the badass head of a special forces unit intent on taking down a particular terrorist scumbag. When said terrorist is captured, his number two intends to blow up a US bound airliner. The good Lt. Colonel isn't going to have any of that, so using a prototype stealth fighter capable of mid-air dockings, he takes his commando team to the skies to handle the situation in typical Seagal style of kicking ass and taking names, with a reluctant Kurt Russel in tow.
Since that doesn't work out terribly well for the Lt. Colonel, it's up to Russell's intelligence geek to man up and lead the remaining commandos to victory over the terrorists, without alerting the rest of the passengers that they're in danger.
The action is excellent, the suspense is good, Halle Berry is cute, and the movie is fun overall. Recommended.A rescue mission unlike any other! - imagination201
When I saw that movie, I expected a good if only okay action movie, but instead, I got a powerhouse of hush-hush dialogues as the rescue team strove to remain undetected aboard the hijacked airplane. Wow! I've never seen that kind of predicament before, and so, this movie is a must see, as well as a thrilling ride that pulls a few surprises at us as it goes :)
Don't miss this!Now a terrorist period piece - Kushana
As an action film, Executive Decision is a competent, if slightly long, treatment that hands us the bonus treat of killing off Steven Segal surprisingly quickly. Acting, especially from John Leguizamo, is solid.
The weirdness is that ED was made in that interval in between the two World Trade Centre attacks (1993 and 2001). So while the world knew that there were terrorists after the WTC, we didn't really understand what they were capable of nor what we were capable of in response. So a lot of the ED drama is spent fretting about issues that now seem trivial, and thus the plot and effort expend don't really make sense post-2001. And since it's an action film and not a historical drama, you don't get to understand what that period was like.
