Family Business
"Sean Connery is terrific...Dustin Hoffman is brilliant...Matthew Broderick is wonderful." -Dennis Cunningham, WCBS-TV
Academy Award winners Sean Connery (1987 Best Supporting Actor, The Untouchables; Finding Forester) and Dustin Hoffman (1988 Best Actor, Kramer vs. Kramer) team with Matthew Broderick (Election, Ferris Bueller's Day Off) to play three generations of the same family, intent on Family Business-burglary. Somehow, some way, they're determined to make crime pay. But the real payoff is seeing these three great stars in a laughs-and-larceny movie treat!
Jessie is an aging career criminal who has been in more jails, fights, schemes and lineups than just about anyone else. His son, Vito, while currently on the straight and narrow, has had a fairly shady past and is indeed no stranger to illegal activity. They both have great hopes for Adam, Vito's son and Jessie's grandson, who is bright, good-looking and without a criminal past. So when Adam approaches Jessie with a scheme for burglary, he's shocked, but not necessarily disinterested.

This is a neat little underapreaciated film, that since the last two reviews of this film either focused on the use of foul language, which is not really present in the film, and a bland synopses, I felt I needed to review.
It is neat to seethree actors of this caliber working off eachother. Sean Connery is unstated and heart filled in his role. A pleasure to see from an actor thathas such a firery reputation. Hoffman is wonderful fighting agianst his childhood demons, you can see the rage and love in every move he makes and finally Broderick is quite poweful and delightful in this movie as a youth who is lost. Look for the particularly interesting scenes where all threecharacters are present particualarly the planning scen e where they have a drink. This an ok movie, as it has pacing problems, but those scenes which are given to the three actors are somethingto see for anyone who loves great actors work.Family Business – Not for anyone offended by foul language. - TheProf
Unfortunately the offensive language, which seemed to provide the main essence of the dialogue, was so prevalent that I couldn’t even watch this movie. Any communication student should know that if the “listener” (the intended audience) cannot receive the “message” (plot, moral, film) from the “sender” (the producer) due to “external or internal interference” (language which prevents the message from being received), there will be no message communicated.
