Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas
Based on the gonzo writer, Hunter S. Thompson, novel of the same name, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas stars Johnny Depp, Benicio DelToro and a host of others, and tells the tale of one man's search for the American dream, except this one is literally "loaded", with drugs, booze and delusions.

Hated this far more than I ever imagined I could hate a Gilliam film. Like listening to a master pianist play a very appealing note, and then listening to him play it over and over and over and over and over and over and over for two hours. Depp cultists will no doubt cherish his turn here, one of his cartoon character jobs. Makes the word "samoan" funny, though.A must see for the counter culture crowd - hudsy76
Don't we wish we could all sorta live like that. From the opening scene I was captured. Before the movie I knew little of Hunter Thompson, but after soon came to realize Johnny Depp played a perfect Hunter Thompson. Oh Yes for those who do not know, Hunter Thompson was an actual journalist, who created Gonzo journalism, which is the style of reporting in which the reporter involve themselves in the action of the story. Which In Hunters case involved the use of an array of assorted illegal and legal drugs.Oh Johnny - billie
What a long strange trip it was. This is an incredible movie. Uglier than Trainspotting, creepy, weird, hilarious, and excellent. It's like being there, trust me. Except I don't think I've ever been that stoned for that long: I don't know how anybody would have the energy, except in those days speed was on all the menus. Ether? My goodness, they did anything and everything. It's a wonder they survived. A trip into the belly of the beast indeed, a rough slice of America, seen through the eyes of a very particular, very stoned individual. Johnny Depp is just plain fabulous. He is one of the best character actors around: if you ever saw Hunter S Thompson, you'll realize just how Depp nailed him, even the walk and hand movements, perfect. I expect Depp and del Torres had a very very good time making this. Obviously it wasn't hard to attract big talent for cameos, and Gilliam's directing was spot on. The movie could have been a bit shorter, but then, if it was, the viewer would not have the same exhausted sense of surviving this long strange trip. Is there a lesson to be learned here? I think so, although it/they are not obvious unless you engage your thinking cap. Vastly entertaining, hilarious, and mind boggling. I'm glad I watched this one. If Johnny Depp is of interest to you, this is a must see- this is one of his best performances. Although like someone said above, they are always excellent.
