Jack Scalia, Rae Dawn Chong, Billy Dee Williams, Maria Conchita Alonso, Rossano Brazzi and Jan Murray co-star in this uncomprising drama from director Abel Ferrara, filmed on location in the sleazy bars and back alleys of New York City's notorious Times Square.

How was the director able to secure such a cast for this movie will always remain a mystery to me but look at the credits and you will also have a hard time believing it. Loyal to his tendency to show New York life from the sleaziest viewpoint possible, Abel Ferrara brings to the screen a relatively straightforward serial killer storyline involving characters facing the widest possible array of problems that you could think of. The acting is good enough, the sets and locations are appropriate, the camera work is good and the soundtrack is, as always, different but interesting. Even with all these qualities, this is still a difficult film to really enjoy. Very odd mixture of exploitation, horror and, in this case, martial arts. I can't say it's for everyone (certainly not for me) but fans of Ferrara's early work should really appreciate this one.
The transfer to DVD is of good quality which is obviously a plus.
