Foxy Brown
Before There Was Jackie Brown...There Was Foxy Brown!
She's brown sugar and spice...and if you don't watch it, she'll put you on ice! Delivering a performance worthy of "the Queen of the genre" (Los Angeles Times), Grier portrays one of the screen's first action heroines with humor, sensitivity and steely determination. This electrifying revenge thriller explodes with all the sex appeal and cooler-than-cool attitude of its irresistible leading lady.
Foxy Brown (Grier) has found her soul mate in an undercover narcotics investigator, but when he is brutally murdered, she swears vengeance against the crime ring responsible. Posing as a call girl to gain access to the ring's inner circle, Foxy discovers just how high the corruption extends, igniting a blistering war that takes her from the city streets to a remote drug laboratory to a breathtaking mid-air battle behind the controls of an airplane! But the most startling confrontations are yet to come, as she schemes to bring down her boyfriend's killers in ways they never could have imagined.

I like the occassional blacksploitation movie, if the music, story and action is good, but this movie was really bad.
The acting was bad, the story was boring, the directing, camerawork, and editing were all amateurish, the soundtrack was uninspiring. The was a lot of gratuitous T+A and nudity, but in a lot of cases it was women (both black and white) being exploited. The male characters in this movies are all horrible people. Foxy Brown has a nice bod, but her character was so unbelievable and ridiculous. You're better off watching Shaft or Superbaad or re-runs of Starsky and Hutch.Classic Jack Hill b-movie - Coconut_Willy
It was quite entertaining to watch this film again with the director's commentary track. At a time when this sort of exploitation movies were put out at an unbelievable rate, Jack Hill was always able to distinguish himself from the lot in some way. This movie is no exception although he has made better ones still. Great cast (all things considered) doing the expected acting job with a better than average dialogue and interesting characters. The sets and locations are OK, the soundtrack appropriate as well as the camera work. Overall, the storyline is not really original but is well developed in an unusual way for this type of film; not a lot of nudity, not really any excessive violence. Hill took advantage of the opportunity to pass along some of his views on society and the cast delivered those quite well. This is in no way a great movie but for the genre, it is definitely above average.foxy brown... - movie_hound
Pam Grier rocks in this very low budget film which does very well given the scraps provided to produce it (hey, if you gave them a real budget, they might actually kick some white ass at more than the box office! and we wouldn't have that now, would we? hehe)
Funny that the director objected to much of the fashion design and yet its one of the most enduring and charming aspects of the film Yes, the film is dated, but we are happy it is!
Some great action and some great moments of racial justice...
