definitely unique, and not for everyone - clauditorium
A 28-year-old man who lives in his parents’ basement dreams of becoming an animator.
Regular ratings don’t really work on something like this. This aggressive, bilious, random shock-based anti-comedy actually contains a few funny moments, but those are accidental. I don’t think the movie is trying to be funny. Mostly, I just stared slack-jawed, mesmerized by Tom Green’s no-holds-barred brand of… “entertainment”. It renders all subsequent gross-out comedies redundant.META - Zaphod
FGF has been well defended on this site but one more positive review couldn’t hurt.
This movie commands the respect and admiration of so many people because Tom Green is uncompromising in his vision. Green wrote, stared and directed Freddy Got Fingered, and the finished product is his through and through.
It defies belief it was ever green lighted by a major studio and that a movie filled with elephant and horse fondling was shown in commercial theaters. FGF is filled with such breathtakingly offensive scenes that they must be seen to be believed.
One scene has Green swinging a newborn baby over his head by its umbilical cord, spraying blood all over the walls and it's mother; and the "climatic" ending has an elephant spraying ejaculate all over Green and Rip Torn (yes, that Rip Torn). Another scene even has Torn bent over with his pants around his ankle yelling "f*** me" to Green (again yes, that Rip Torn).
The movie plays as one big, long practical joke on the viewer, and the studio that funded it - anti-comedy taken to the utmost extreme. It's fun in a depraved sort of way.Better Than Casablanca - Cody
Someone once said "when you laugh at this film your not really laughing because it is funny, you laugh becuase you cannot believe what you are actually seeing. The humour is so bizarre you just sit there stunned..." The humour is outlandish. the pace of the film is absolutley jarring. the dialogue is stylish. It's a film you will either love or hate there is no in between. I have been a rabid fan of tom green and strive continually to watch all of his older style of humour before he was known and bystanders would ruin countless skits. But this film is more surreal for lack of a better word...the humour is less digestable than his original work. For the record I loved this film from beginning to end and proudly own the DVD. I dont know who I would recommend this film to..I dont trust anyone to enjoy it except me and my friends who saw it in the theatre. we still laugh about certain scenes..
