Fright Night
"An Outstanding Horror Film..." - The Motion Picture Guide
He's sweet, sexy, and he likes to sleep in late. You might think he's the perfect neighbor. But before inviting him Jerry in for a nightcap, there's something you should know. Jerry prefers his drinks warm, red-and straight from the jugular! It's Fright Night, a horrific howl starring Chris Sarandon as the seductive vampire and William Ragsdale as the frantic teenager struggling to keep Jerry's deadly fangs out of his neck. Only 17-year-old Charley Brewster (Ragsdale) knows Jerry's bloodcurdling secret. When Charley can't get anybody to believe him, he turns to TV horror host Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall), who used to be the "Great Vampire Killer" of the movies. Can these mortals save Charley and his sweetheart Amy (Amanda Bearse) from the wrathful bloodsucker's toothy embrace? If you love being scared, Fright Night will give you the nightmare of your life!

This very campy 1980's horror/comedy flick did have some entertainment value. Some of the special effects were very well done, considering the times and the budget used.
On the other hand, I found the acting to be very bad, considering the actors involved. It was a treat seeing Amanda Bearse in another role than the one she's most known for (Marcy in Married...with children).
All things considered, I'm still glad I watched this one. Now, I can check out the remake and compare. One of the best Vampire movies made - Ziegler
Positive: Funny and great acting by all sides. The lead vampire is at the same time seductive and terrifying. Marcy from married with children is sexy in this movie. Great effects, great storyline, great action. Well directed.
Negative: Well watching it like 25 years later, its starting to show its age very 1980s look. The DVD is barebones. This movie deserves more.
Conclusion: Usual budget vampire movie which outshines its more high budget rivals.Classic Comedic Horror - AcE-
This is definitely a classic horror flick. A spooky vampire tale mixed with 80's kid-power camp. The plot and acting are everything you would expect from the 80's. The movie is quite scary at times and comedic relief is surpised by the so-called "vampire hunters." If you're into horror movies you should definitely add this one to your collection.
