Halloween (Extended Edition)
The Legendary All-Time Horror Classic Featuring 12 Minutes Of Additional "Shot-For-Television" Scenes!
When Halloween was sold to NBC in 1980, the network's Standards & Practices Department demanded numerous edits to the original film. Although producer Debra Hill personally debated these cuts, it became necessary to create additional scenes to fill the movie's two-hour television running time. Using the crew of Halloween II as well as stars Jaime Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasence, director John Carpenter commenced a three-day shoot of all-new scenes and alternate footage that was then added to the original feature.
Halloween - Extended Edition is presented Widescreen. Previously only available on Anchor Bay's Limited Edition 2-Disc THX set, this version has been acclaimed by fans and collectors worldwide as the ultimate missing piece of Halloween history!

Halloween is definitely one of my favorite horror movies. It has just what every good horror movie needs -- a haunting murderer, suspenseful moments and interesting murder scenes. The film is about Michael Myers, a killer who murdered his sister on Halloween night when he was only 6. He was put into an institution where he has been studied by Dr. Sam Loomis. But now Michael Myers has escaped unexpectedly and returns to his home town, where everyone remembers what happened Halloween night all those years ago. When he returns, he is stalking Laurie Strode, no matter where she goes and this terrifies her, seeing she has no idea why. Suddenly Laurie's baby-sitter friends Annie and Lynda are murdered and Laurie fears she'll be next. Halloween is filled with jump scenes and suspense. The famous opening scene of this film made my heart pump as it went on and my eyes were glued to the screen, just wondering what would happen next. This film was also one of Jamie Lee Curtis's firsts and she does a great job as her character. Halloween certainly is a frightening horror film, a must-see for any horror fan.Mischievous Mikey - CaptainRhodes
I use to want to be Michael Myers...years ago of course.(Some children wanted to be superman, not this kid). Now that I'm much older I still say that this is one of the greatest horror movies ever released. Scratch that, of any genre ever released. The music alone is worth a rental or purchase. Throw Mikey's menacing tactics in with it and ya got one hell of a movie. I have seen this movie countless of times and it never grows stale. Nor will it. When it comes to Halloween and Mikey, I'm a lifer.Extra Scenes Worth Watching - purvis1359
The extended edition of John Carpenter's "Halloween" contains about 12 minutes of additional footage, shot approximately two years after the original movie was filmed and during the filming of "Halloween II". These extra scenes were shot for the purpose of filling extra time so that the movie could be shown in a two-hour time slot on television (including commercials, of course).
The additional footage included in John Carpenter's "Halloween: Extended Edition", while certainly not necessary for the understanding or advancement of the films plot, does provide answers to a few questions that viewers are left pondering following the original "Halloween". Primarily, the extra scenes describe Michael Myers during the time period when he was incarcerated, prior to his escape and subsequent trip to Haddenfield, Illinois (after which comprises the bulk of the original 1978 version of the film).
Although the extended edition of John Carpenter's "Halloween" is not extraordinarily special, it does provide fans with some of the missing pieces in the history of the movie's antagonist, Michael Myers.
