Hannah And Her Sisters
"Warmhearted, wise and fiercely funny!" -The New York Times
Brimming with laughter, tears and subtle beauty, Hannah And Her Sisters is a magnificent "summation of (Woody Allen's) career to date" (The New York Times). Winner of three Oscars, and featuring a brilliant all-star cast, Hannah And Her Sisters spins a tale of three unforgettable women and showcases Allen "at his most emotionally expansive, working on his broadest canvas with masterly ease" (Newsweek)!
The eldest daughter of show-biz parents, Hannah (Mia Farrow) is a devoted wife, loving mother and successful actress. A loyal supporter of her two aimless sisters (Barbara Hershey) and Holly (Dianne Wiest), she's also the emotional backbone of a family that seems to resent her stability almost as much as they depend on it. But when Hannah's perfect world is quietly sabotaged by sibling rivalry, she finally begins to see that she's as lost as everyone else, and in order to find herself, she'll have to choose - between the independence her family can't live with... and the family she can't live without.

I recognize and appreciate Allen's direction, stories and character development, but I was left bored with this film as I couldn't relate to Hannah or her sisters. The humor within the Upper East Side pretension fell flat, but Allen's typical neurotic hypochondriac is packed with biting irony. Caine is pretty good in his supporting role, but I'm uncertain he should have beat out Hopper’s Hoosiers performance for the Oscar. Weist’s supporting Oscar win is even more shocking as I saw nothing noteworthy in her turn as the ambitious, but misguided and unfocused sister, Holly. One of hist best! - Cricri7
Woody Allen's movies have not all aged beautifully. Some are not worth revisiting but Hannah and her sisters is. It has all of his best actors he loves working with and the story and dialogue are excellent. If you were a fan of Woody Allen way back when, you should zip this one.Great film - Mr.Glass
I really enjoyed this. I think it is one of Allen's best, if not the best. It is thought provoking and downright hilarious. It also has its fair share of drama. Not many filmmakers can pull of the drama and comedy together but Allex succeeds masterfully. The performances are all top notch and the writing is great. I highly recommend it!
