Harvey
James Stewart gives one of his finest performances in this lighthearted film, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning play.
Stewart stars as the good-natured Elwood P. Dowd, whose constant companion is Harvey, a six-foot tall rabbit that only he can see. To his sister, Veta Louise, Elwood's obsession with Harvey has been a thorn in the side of her plans to marry off her daughter. But when Veta Louise decides to put Elwood in a mental hospital, a hilarious mix-up occurs and she finds herself committed instead.
It's up to Elwood to straighten out the mess with his kindly philosophy, and his "imaginary" friend, in this popular classic that features a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award winning performance by Josephine Hull.

I have been waiting to see this film for such a long time and I was not disappointed!
James Stewart is phenomenal and 'Harvey' is remarkable. This is a stage play that has been made into a film....althouogh I can not say too much without ruining this gem - it is a must see!Delightful on Every Viewing - Plastic_Penguin
The acting is perfect, every character is acted with just the right level of humour and gravity. Josephine Hull steals every scene that she's in, and that's in spite of every other actor's great work.
The writing is beautiful, the lines are witty and them being obviously grounded in their time does not make them sound worn and stale, instead it adds an element of charm and quaintness, which goes well with the whole plot.
It's such a pretty story too and it does put a smile on your face for a couple of days and reminds you that being "oh so nice" isn't such a bad idea. Each time I see the movie I become polite for a couple of days, and then some loser cuts me off in traffic and I need to pop this dvd back in to recover my manners.a classic - blueveggie
Jamie Stewart at his finest stars (or co-stars) in this classic film that is about a remarkable pooka named Harvey. Based on a play of the same name, Harvey is delightfully fun with innocent charm. As with most classics it gives you a glimpse back to a more gentler time without today's sophisticated special effects.
