Hero
We're All Heroes If You Catch Us At The Right Moment.
Geena Davis is ace reporter Gale Gayley, who literally falls into the story of a lifetime when she's a passenger on an airplane that crashes into a Chicago bridge. In the smoke and darkness, she's saved by a rude, foul-mouthed "hero" who promptly disappears into the night. . . Leaving only his shoe behind. When Gale's TV station offers a million dollars to the mystery hero, a gentle Vietnam vet appears to claim the prize - and share it with the city's homeless. But this screwball Cinderella story is complicated by the fact that the real hero is a small-time crook whom nobody believes. Both men have something heroic inside, as well as something to hide, and it's up to Gale to discover the true meaning of courage.

Great movie. Great humour and very sharp and witty in the treatment of the subject of shallowness of the popular media.
Dustin Hoffmann at his best. Fine supporting cast and flawless execution.
Dustin portrays a man with a very narrow view of life and in the words of his ex-wife he really only rises above mediocrity when placed in a desperate situation. This random event then draws our "hero" into the open and even during the course of his heroic act he reverts to type and carries out a petty crime, just to remind us of who he really is. It is the situation that changes his character, if only briefly.Hero.. or just lucky? - movie_goer
Have you ever heard the stories about someone who's an annoymous hero that saves lives and becomes unknown? After the media suffers a frenzy with a airplane crashing Dustin Hoffman happened to be there when it toke place, But after unlocking the doors and freeing the passengers his face covered in mud he saves the injured remainder then flees the site, Running late he struggles to convince his ex-wife, and employers what happened after a track record of theft and crime he's never taken seriously except from a under educated lawyer and a man who pick Hoffman off the road things get messy when 1 of the passengers is a famous new reporter and set a reward for the "hero". With Mistaken identy and a whole lot of messy fights this movie hold Sarcasim as the main ingredients and Noir comedy to lighten the seriousness of a story. I was'nt taken away by the film after all chevy chase was swearing like a drunken sailer and trying to pull off a sleezy boss. But the whole point of the film is to learn "don't believe everything from a magazine of news channel" i think somewhere between lies and truth... the truth is usually fabricated to sweeten a storys scope.
