If you have not seen Highlander, it has a truly interesting storyline.
The villain is truly hateful and Christopher Lambert does a great job playing Connor MacLeod. I love the way you are shown flashbacks of Connor's life.
The acting at times is a little unrealistic; however, the storyline keeps your interest.
Definitely not a waste of time watching this gem. There can be only One ! - Big_Max
Highlander is about a secret battle among immortals, the final result being "There can be only one ! Christopher Lambert is outstanding and plays his role of Connor MacCloud to perfection. Sean Connery is the wise mentor who teaches MacCloud about the ways of immortals. Clancy Brown is the menacing and maniacal villian that must be defeated for sake of all mankind.
That would already be enough for a great movie, but the music is some of legendary rock group Queen's best work. I would give it 6 Stars if it were possible.
I saw this movie origanal in the theatre in 1984 and after all these years it is still fantastic. Not all sci-fi age as well and it is a testament to how well this movies was made.Brilliant action/fantasy flick - XTRUClerk
Highlander was, and is, like no other film. Men running around the streets of a modern city with swords in hand trying to decapitate each other in order to win something called "the Prize." If that was all that there was to it the movie might not have been that good, but to this you add brilliant performances by Christophe Lambert (dashing, handsome, mysterious, smirking like Han Solo with an accent that you can't quite place) Clancy Brown (the grimacing, deep voiced, scarred madman) and Sean Connery (not exactly Yoda, but a wise man just the same). You also get a brilliant young directer by the name of Russel Mulcahy, who makes every single shot a dizzying, breathtaking thill-ride and now classic songs by rock superstars Queen and what you end up with is nothing short of amazing. Highlander never really made an impact in the States, it was primarilly a European success and, for some reason, really popular in Montreal. It was impossible to walk into a video store without finding a copy, even the small video sections inside convenient store who only carried forty or fifty titles. Truly different, truly beautiful, a wonderful movie experience, Highlander is and will remain a great film. If you've never seen this one you're missing out. Have a look. Cheers.
