In a span of 36 hours, Claudia Larson (Hunter) has managed to lose her job, make out with her boss and learn that her daughter (Danes) is planning to go all the way. But Claudia's fortunes actually take a turn for the worse when she flies home to endure an even more grueling trial: The family Thanksgiving! Beset by a neurotic mother (Bancroft), kooky father (Durning), eccentric brother (Downey, Jr.) and compulsively "normal" sister (Stevenson), Claudia struggles to maintain her calm. But as sparks fly, tempers flare and turkeys go airborne, Claudia manages to recapture the zaniness of her childhood and discover them most important things in life are the memories she shares with family... and for that, she can only be thankful!

Predictable and odd - librarygirl
There were a few genuinely funny moments, and there aren't many Thanksgiving movies out there, so that's something. But there were scenes that were too long or could have been cut. A lot of the characters were unlikeable until the very end. Robert Downey Jr's character was a raving lunatic jerk. The usual cliches of holiday movies were all present, although I guess that's a bit hard to avoid. So, I'm still on the lookout for the ultimate Thanksgiving movie, this wasn't it.Great ensemble - pezliz
A great cast that makes a good story even better. I never understood why Americans got together for Thanksgiving just a month away from Christmas - but this film explores the politics and family dynamics that can only be expressed without the Christmas spirit. Both funny and touching, a great night in-type movie.Sweet and Funny - Loralee
This film is a perfect mix of comedy and drama, it draws you in with its sarcastic humor and keeps you hooked with its poignancy.
If you like the indie film with a meandering storyline, then you'll love it.
