Hope Floats
Birdee Pruitt (Sandra Bullock) has a life most people would envy. But when her cheating husband reveals his infidelity on her on a national TV talk show, her perfect life comes crashing down. Devastated, Birdee and her young daughter head home to the small town she left behind. As mother and daughter struggle to adjust to their new lives, Birdee slowly gains the strength to open her heart--and find hope again.

VERY Heart-warming, Touching, and Romantic! - gidget
I thought that this movie was a refreshing look at overcoming what life throws at you. Starting over and becoming better rather than bitter!
A broken heart suffers real, unimaginable pain. It sends one spiraling down into a vortex of doubt, self-loathing and fear. Knowing that the love of a friend is waiting for the pain to subside makes a difficult journey of tears, anger, depression, and the gaining back of oneself worth traveling down an unseen road. Hope Floats indeed suggests that hope is always there; showing itself through the clouds until it fills the sky with its brilliant light.

From the gut-wrenching first few minutes this movie had me. Sandra Bullock does some of her best in Hope Floats.
People taking this movie Waaaaaaay too seriously are completely missing the simplicity of it all.
It shows us heartbreak, healing, compassion and most of all, love.
The two mother-daughter relationships in this film are wonderful. I loved it.One Great Chick Flick - MVBF
It's true, the actors are type-cast in this movie and you might notice the 'hometown girl gets heart broken and goes home to mend and return to her root' plot line from other movies but there are a few things that make Hope Floats special. A Sandra Bullock a little subdued, and a very attractive and tender Harry Connick is heart-warming. The real winner in the film is Birdie's daughter, Bernice, played by Mae Whitman. She, along with Gena Rowlands who plays Birdie's mother, add depth and charm to what would otherwise be just another chick flick. This one will make you laugh and cry.
