Identity
The Secret Lies Within
What if every choice we ever make was already made for us? What if there really were no coincidences in life and our destinies were already predetermined?
Ten strangers with secrets are brought together in a savage rainstorm: A limo driver (John Cusack), an '80's TV star (Rebecca DeMornay), a cop (Ray Liotta) who is transporting a killer (Jake Busey), a call girl (Amanda Peet), a pair of newlyweds (Clea DuVall and William Lee Scott) and a family in crisis (John C. McGinley, Leila Kenzle, Bret Loehr), all take shelter at a desolate motel run by a nervous night manager (John Hawkes). Relief in finding shelter is quickly replaced with fear as the ten travelers begin to die, one by one. They soon realize that, if they are to survive, they'll have to uncover the secret that has brought them all together.

...by the ending!
The director of this film, James Mangold, also directed "3:10 to Yuma", "Copland" and "Walk the Line",which are deftly handled. Given this resume, it's hard to believe that such a capable director could produce what feels like a "B" movie. It seems as though he saddled with a limited budget and a flawed script.
When the ending finally came, I thought "lunch bag let down". Martin Scorsese's "Shutter Island" (which is a MUCH better movie), is similar in that the ending is wholly dissatisfying!
If you're in the mood for a "good" mystery movie rent "The Prestige" or the Canadian flick "Incendies".Good suspenseful who-dunnit - luyo
This movie had good characters, a very suspenseful atmosphere and a well devised plot that kept me guessing until the very end, and even after that... Great performances too, considering the actors had such limitations to work with. Depending on what kind of plot you like it might get wishy-washy towards the end, but I still found it very effective. I wasn't particularly a fan of the ending, but I have to say it was very clever.Sounds like a usual murder mystery?? Not really!!! - moviemonger
Identity is one of those movies that are simultaneously a pleasure and a challenge for one to a review. The pleasure is in the discovery of an unusual, profoundly surprising little thriller that exceeds any expectations; the challenge is in convincing readers to go see it without giving too much away....It’s sort of the reaction that should be provoked in critics - how can we get you to go see it, when all we really want to say is GO SEE IT. Well we saw this movie in a group..few of them loved it...few thought it was ok and few didn’t like it..then there were few who thought they totally understood it...few who dint understand but refused to admit it..and few who didn’t know what the hell just happened !!!! Few did think that it had a senseless ending. But then they really were not attentive thro’out the movie and mayb they wanted the movie to end in the way they expected, well like most of the edge of the seat movies. But then this one simply doesn’t!!!
Director James Mangold (Girl, Interrupted) and screenwriter Michael Clooney have managed to keep all the film’s secrets till the right moment. It was so well done that a friend of mine, master of figuring out movies, admitted that he could not outsmart this one. As a result, that guy hates this movie out of spite. But don’t let my friend deter you. This is the most fun I’ve had at a murder mystery since quite long time. Anyway, I hope all of this is enough to encourage you to see Identity. It’s a real surprise, the kind of film that makes anyone who sees it feel instantly protective of its provocative twists. So, I’ll just close as I opened
