Illuminata
The Story of Imperfect Love...
“It’s a thin curtain between theater and life,” says one of the actors in Illuminata. And as the other players in this star-powered, wildly romantic tale will soon discover, it’s also a thin line between love and betrayal, passion and cruelty, fantasy and truth. Set amid the gaudy decadence of an eccentric theater company, the backstage intrigues begin as the group mounts a radical new play by the troupe’s tormented resident writer. But with opening night approaching, multiple complications lurk in the wings – as a lascivious critic preys on the leading man, a washed-up prima donna preys on the playwright and the entire cast plays fast and loose with everything from the script to each other’s spouses. A wondrous, witty, wickedly comic tale.

Having known personally some people who have studied and worked in theater, I could definitelu recognize some of the characters of this movie.
A theater friend of mine once told me that two people in that field of work should never be a couple, and we get an example in this period farce of how complicated love can be between two equally artistic minds.
This movie couldn't manage to sustain my interest all the way through, but it certainly had its moments.
