IMAX: Everest
Filmed During The Infamous 1996 Climbing Disaster
Documented In Into Thin Air!
Relive a breathtaking journey to the top of the world with Everest, the spectacular giant-screen motion picture for Imax theatres!
Filmed during the infamous 1996 storm that claimed eight lives, Everest documents the filmmakers' harrowing rescue efforts to help surviving members of the ill-fated group. Join an international team of climbers as they scale the world's tallest peak. Witness the perils of skin-blistering cold, violent blizzards that drop the windchill to minus 100 degrees and air so thin it numbs the mind. Everest will take you across creaking icefalls and gaping chasms, up dangerous, towering cliffs and into the danger zone of oxygen-thin altitude. Filmed in spellbinding Imax Photography, "the most hyperrealistic format yet invented," says producer Greg MacGillivray.
Narrated by Academy Award nominee Liam Neeson, including the music of George Harrison, Everest is a rich, dramatic story - a daring adventure of triumph and tragedy.

Even on my 37" screen, this was what one of the youngsters called -- of course -- "awesome." I have seen a lot of coverages of a lot of Everest climbs, but this was spectacular photography. I happened to see it the week that Hillary died, and the film was a reminder of the incredible feat that he and Tenzing had accomplished. I'm certain that seeing it in an Imax
theatrre would be indeed "awesome."Imax: Everest - peaches_and_cream
A nice, short family flick that fills a nice niche if you are looking for a realist feature that isn't too long and boring. Honestly, however, it was much better on the IMAX screen; we couldn't get used to the lack of images and booming sound around us. Great for teaching kids the reality of the environment.Marvellous - Mike2
I advise this presentation for everyone. Just over a handful of fly-bys and an excellent journey of a group of climbers who reach the summit. This was very exhillerating to watch. Mount Everest is a great aspiration for any climber. Two thumbs up.
