Impromptu
"Delightfully entertaining comedy with top-notch script and cast." -Blockbuster Entertainment Guide
"Spirited, playful and outrageous" (The New York Times), this captivating romantic comedy celebrates brazen, controversial 19th-Century feminist author George Sand and the unlikely object of her desire: well-mannered composer Frederic Chopin. Boasting an impressive cast including Judy Davis (Life Without Judy Garland), Hugh Grant (Notting Hill) and Emma Thompson (Sense and Sensibility), Impromptu) is "delightful, lively and saucy" (New York Daily News)!
Bohemian provocateur Sand (Davis) is setting Paris ablaze by wearing men's clothing and taking a long line of lovers! But when she first hears the heavenly music of Chopin (Grant), she vows to stop at nothing - including transforming herself - to capture the heart of the fragile, shy and painfully straight-laced musician! Will this lovesong ultimately crescendo... or will it become one of history's greatest unfinished symphonies?

Charming with great music - operabuff
This Chopin biopic is truly charming. One can even forgive Hugh Grant's horrible fake French accent (funnily, none of the other characters attempt to sound French). The film has a great soundtrack of music by Chopin and Liszt. Well acted by all the principals, especially Judy David (as George Sand). And, as a side note, Julian Sands (who plays Liszt) looks remarkable like paintings of the composer.
