When Eve (Geraldine Page), an interior designer, is deserted by her husband of many years, Arthur (E.G. Marshall), the emotionally glacial relationships of their three grown daughters are laid bare. Twisted by jealousy, insecurity and resentment, Renata (Diane Keaton), a successful writer; Flyn (Kristin Griffith), a woman crippled by indecision; and Joey (Marybeth Hurt), a budding actress; struggle to communicate for the sake of their shattered mother. But when their father unexpectedly falls for another woman (Maureen Stapleton), his decision to remarry sets in motion a terrible twist of fate...with tragically unexpected consequences.

the actors reveal a vulnerability that is not seen in most films. dressed in monochromatic colors the sisters are cut off from each other and cut off from their own feelings and passion.in walks another character dressed in flaming red blowing the top off of their unhealthy world. she shakes everything up and is hated by all three sisters.one of them calls her a vulgarian. the vulgarian dressed in red turns out to save her life, which provides a kernel of wisdom. the person one deems as an idiot and clown may be the most clever one in the bunch!Interiors - ABC99
Interiors is a Woody Allen drama centred around three afluent sisters dealing with their family in crisis. Each sibling is struggling with their own mirrored personal issues involving detatchment and intellectual angst. Like most Woddy Allen films these privleged individuals cannot access happiness through their wealth or their intellect. It is captivating drama and if you are patient you will be left contemplating at its tragic end.Haunting - xYJx
This is a terrific, minimalistic film. If you are annoyed by noisy, senseless Hollywood violence, this film will hug you like a loving parent. Pondering life's meaning and seeking solace through family (or lack there of), Interiors deals with family issues, while coming to grips with the aging process.
While these films are fairly cookie cutter, this film was released at a time when they weren't too common (released during the Star Wars/blockbuster craze). Must recommend, must-see!
