This is an awful movie and I actually watched this film with the same class that watched A Kid In King Arthur's Court. My teacher said this movie was great, but they were wrong. A really good friend of mine said it was great, but they were wrong, too. It was boring, predictable and it was kind of unnecessary to have a scene where the protagonist's dog gets attacked by wild dogs and has blood all over him. The best part of the film was these three old guys who were gambling on the dog sled race, but they only appeared in three or four scenes in the movie and were on the screen for 10 or 15 seconds. Plus, this is a Disney movie and 5 minutes into the movie a character is killed. Come on! This is a family movie. That is not something you want your little kids to see. I couldn't wait for this film to be over. I do not recommend it. Never see it.it's about a dream - tlefrancois
A seventeen year old boy loses his father, needs money and competes in a dog sled competition for a large prize. The snow and cold scenery is fantastic. You seem to feel the cold as the film progresses. Criminal involvement depicted is what seemed to be true during the year period of the film. The progress of the race keeps the viewer's interest and you emotionally cheer on the young man who is competing, especially since he has fears brought on by his father's death. Being set in 1917 allows the use of a period steam locomotive which creates authenticity and historical interest. This film is a cheer for the human spirit. We need more of this today.A Good Movie About A Young Man, His Dog Team, And A Dream - bwod
From the producers of "White Fang", comes this 1994 family film, entitled "Iron Will". It's about a young man who must overcome incredible challenges and hardships, in order to help save the family farm. He needs to win a 500 mile dog-race to win the prize of $10,000, despite the fact that he has never competed in such a race, before. Based loosely on a true story, the movie is exciting and compelling. I recommend it whole-heartedly. Good entertainment for the whole family. One thumb firmly up.
