Isn't She Great
"It's A Party!" -NBC-TV
The hilarious Bette Midler stars in this outrageous comedy based on the life of Jacqueline Susann, an ambitious woman of dubious talent who writes Valley Of The Dolls, the sexy, best-selling novel that takes the world by storm. Jacqueline's irrepressible sense of humor, indomitable spirit and adoring husband Irving Mansfield (Nathan Lane) eventually rocket her from struggling starlet to international celebrity.

Thanks God for Midler and Lane - Cricri7
Isn't she great may not be the best movie ever made but when your 2 main characters are played by Bette Midler and Nathan Lane, you can't go wrong! The script isn't very strong, even though it could have been with the story at hand, but these 2 save the show.
The film is based on Jacqueline Susann's life. She wrote a novel called The valley of the dolls which became a best seller from which they made a movie. Susann had a very rich life, drugs..affairs..tragedy.., they could have made one hell of a story but some subjects were not even touched.Nice Little Movie - Mac1
Loose biopic of the life of Jacqueline Susann, author of "Valley of the Dolls".Susann died of cancer in 1974, Good work by Bette Midler in the title role. Nathan, of course, was great as Irving Mansfield, her agent and doting husband. And what an amazing collection of neckties. Nice supporting work by David Hyde Pierce, Stockard Channing and John Cleese. I'm giving this film 4 stars mostly for its design elements, and the fact it was partly shot in Montreal. It's a nice little movie.
