Jacob's Ladder
The most frightening thing about Jacob Singer's nightmare is that he isn't dreaming.
Tim Robbins is Jacob Singer, a man who lives in a nightmare. Wounded in Vietnam, he's now back at home in New York City. Torn between the memories of his son and terrifying wartime demons, Jacob is slowly losing his grip on reality. His beautiful girlfriend (Elizabeth Pena) only adds confusion to his life, drawing him into a web of sexual intrigue; but ultimately, it's his friend Louis (Danny Aiello), who turns out to be the only one Jacob can truly count on.

An amazing journey - Clarice_Starling
A very unique movie, very complex and deep but a must see movie. You have to watch it maybe three times to fully appreciate it. When I first watched it in the theatre when it first came out I had no idea what I had just seen. It's an amazing story and very visual, beautifully filmed, lots of symbolism. It has a twist of an ending, what more could you ask for in a thriller?
Tim Robbins is excellent as Jacob Singer.Great Psychological Thriller - Chocosam
I was looking through the list of best psychological thrillers and wanted to give this a try. It sure did not disappoint! Plot could appear confusing initially, and you may compare it to our modern day "Black Swan". You might want to watch it a second time to fully get the whole picture.Very good viewing experience - Coconut_Willy
I had seen this film a long time ago and it took me a long time to watch it again as it is a rather odd experience. The general concept and the way the storyline is developed is just excellent. Rarely have I seen a movie where it's so difficult to figure out what is reality and what is not. A very well made emotional roller coaster where the main character (Tim Robbins) goes through moments of despair, happiness, fun and complete horror. The cast here is great, Robbins in particular, doing a very good acting job with a very smart dialogue. The sets and locations are always appropriate for the different scenes, the Maurice Jarre soundtrack is good and the camera work is excellent. The special effects are very surprising; not really spectacular but quite original. I would strongly recommend this film although you must be ready for a difficult experience. If you are not in the mood to really get into it, you will have a hard time enjoying it as it demands complete attention.
