Jade
Some Fantasies Go Too Far.
Money. Sex. Power. They're all part of this crisp, stylish suspense thriller from the director of The French Connection,/I> and the screenwriter of Basic Instinct. David Caruso (Kiss of Death) plays Corelli, a D.A. up to his neck in a case that may lead where he doesn't want to go. Chazz Palminteri (The Usual Suspects) portrays Matt, a prominent attorney, local power broker and Corelli's longtime pal. Linda Fiorentino (The Last Seduction) is Matt's wife Trina: a clinical psychologist who's bold, uninhibited and capable of anything - maybe even murder. With gripping suspense, fiery performances and one of the most spectacular car chases ever filmed, Jade is "a powerful movie without equal this year" (Doug Moore, FOX-TV).

God this movie is boring. I was hoping for something really fun or so-bad-it's-good, but instead it just goes on and on, with nothing good going on. It's weird to see so many good actors doing so little, but then again, the script is so atrocious, what else could they do? Someone needs to tell the screenwriter that vulgarity is not the same thing as boldness. Skip it.I'll just never feel the same way about stilettos. - Cinemista
It's not a good thing when you spend most of the movie trying to determine whether or not the movie is a parody.
In the case of Jade, I was doing exactly that, only to finally guess that it had to be a serious entry because the ineptness of the screenplay precluded tongue-in-cheek shots at the "sex thriller" genre. Which is actually an asset for this movie; for intelligent viewers, it's so bad it's good, and for those wanting this type of movie to simply go through its paces, it delivers all the requisite elements, with relish.
And then some. We have an anti-hero with a thing for dangerous women and a femme fatale with an unfaithful lout of a husband and a good understanding of psychology. We have a slick, highpowered lawyer that tells someone that the only thing that matters is "sex, money and power, paisan" which is all the more funny for having been delivered to a non-Italian. We hear characters making references to a woman named "Jade" who has become a living legend among rich and powerful men through an unusual sexual proclivity. These references are always scored to esoteric Celtic chanting, which makes you think that the sexual practice must be something very exotic. I'll leave you to figure out what the practice is, but let me give you a hint..it's nothing a 15 year old boy wouldn't recognize. And speaking of the Celtic music...what gives? I thought that a movie with a main character called Jade and a scene in a Chinese gambling den would be trying for an Asian theme, but no...I guess it's Celtic. Or Italian, what with the paisaning. Or maybe Greek.
But we get a car chase where we never have a clue who is driving the car, and an ending that instead of making everything clear, makes everything really, really stupid. We get a supermodel run over by a car, twice. And we get Linda purring and slinking all over the place, delivering seminars on serial killers to IBM employees.
And that, paisan, is a pretty good movie. No more imagination needed - Spumantie
This movie was very bold. It explained everything (unlike some other thrillers) and like I said - left nothing to the imagination.
I love Linda Fiorentio - she is a great actress. The chemistry between her and Chazz was fantastic.
If you like thrillers, this is a must see.
